Spanish actress Penelope Cruz has teamed up with Ben Kingsley in a new movie titled ‘Elergy’, which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival over the weekend.

The romantic tale follows a charismatic and selfish professor who loses his composure when he falls in love with a student half his age.

The film deals with universal themes of love, death and illness and portrays beauty as a burden as well as a blessing.

33 year old Cruz was questioned over her role and asked if she had to work harder as an actress after speculation she was cast due to her looks.

‘I don’t think about my career in those terms, I have been looking at that from the beginning since I was seventeen years old, and I have been very lucky, very privileged and very grateful for all the great roles that they have given me from the beginning, some better than others.’

The movie is directed by Spain’s Isabel Coixet and is set for release later this year.

Penelope and Monica Cruz are planning to design a line of clothes for fuller-figured women.

The talented sisters - who launched a successful clothing range for high street store Mango - are planning on turning their attentions to the problem of finding sexy clothes for larger women.

Monica said: “We would really like to do a collection with larger sizes, because most of the time there are only horrible clothes for bigger bodies.

“You should be able to enjoy what you’re wearing, and enjoy shopping for new clothes, or else it can be a horrible experience.”

The 31-year-old Spanish star says she finds it hard to contain her excitement when she sees people wearing her designs.

She said: “When I see people in the street wearing my designs, I just want to stop and hug them! It’s like a dream come true. When I see people wearing my clothes, I’m literally speechless. It’s amazing.”

Penelope Cruz’s spokesperson has denied reports that the actress had a ‘panic attack’ and ‘refused to fly’, on board a flight from Newark to Barcelona, as a result of which the flight was delayed an hour and 40 minutes.

The rep said that when the Oscar nominee was informed that the flight would be delayed by four hours, she decided to disembark.

“There was no panic attack. She was told the plane would be delayed for four hours, so she decided to deplane. No one else was said to have exited,” the New York Post quoted the rep, as saying.

Earlier, reports claimed that the actress freaked out on the continental flight on June 28.

Cruz, who appeared to be travelling by herself, was in first class and became frantic after the plane left the gate.

Following her nervous and restless state, the actress deplaned after speaking with the cockpit.
