Paris Hilton left jail Tuesday after a bizarre, three-week stay in which the hotel heiress was briefly released to her Hollywood Hills home, then sent screaming and crying back to a county lockup.

The 26-year-old celebutante walked out of the all-women’s jail in Lynwood to an enormous horde of cameras and reporters after midnight. She had checked into the jail, largely avoiding the spotlight, late June 3 after a surprise appearance at the MTV Movie Awards.

Hilton smiled as she left the jail, her blond hair pulled back in a braided ponytail. Her parents, Kathy and Rick, met her in a black SUV as cameras snapped pictures and Hilton, wearing a sage jacket with white trim over a white shirt and skinny jeans, did not respond to reporters’ questions.

She didn’t say anything, and it wasn’t immediately clear where she was going.

“She fulfilled her debt. She was obviously in good spirits. She thanked people as she left,” said sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore.

Hilton will complete her probation in March 2009 as long as she keeps her driver’s license current and doesn’t break any laws. She can reduce that time by 12 months if she does community service that could include a public-service announcement, the city attorney’s office has said.

Paris Hilton was released from prison early Thursday morning, just 3 days of her original 45-day sentence.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff Department held a press conference outside the Century Regional Detention Facility, where they announced that Paris was released because of “medical reasons” and reassigned to the home confinement (she will be put under house arrest and has to wear an ankle bracelet).

And of course those “medical reasons” are confidential.

After hitting the red carpet last night at the 2007 MTV Movie Awards and surrendering herself to authorities, Madame Tussauds of course has to update their wax collection!

The new-and-improved prison chic Paris wax figure was debuted at NYC’s Madame Tussauds on Monday. It reflectz her sentence of 23 days at Los Angeles’ Lynwood Correctional Facility for driving with a suspended license.

As a result of the guilty verdict she received in an LA court on Friday, Paris Hilton has parted ways with her long-time publicist, Elliot Mintz.

In Touch Weekly reports the 26-year-old heiress blamed Mintz for her mistake, telling the judge her publicist had told her that her license was only suspended for 30 days and that she could still drive for work-related matters.

But prosecutors disagreed. “This is about the fault of Ms. Hilton,” said Deputy City Atty. David A. Bozanich. “She knew [she couldn’t drive], and she did it anyway.”

Paris is planning to appeal but 45 days could easily turn into nothing. Just ask former Lost star Michelle Rodriguez. Because of jail overcrowding, Michelle’s 60-day sentence turned into just four hours.

Paris Hilton arrives 18 minutes late to her court hearing in downtown Los Angeles on Friday afternoon.

The heiress is currently testifying at Metropolitan Courthouse on her own behalf and could be thrown into jail for 45 for violating her probation for an alcohol-related reckless driving conviction.

Paris, 26, pleaded no contest to reckless driving back in January and was sentenced to 3 years probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines.

UPDATE: Paris was just sentenced to 45 days in jail, starting June 5 at the Century Regional Detention Facility (CRDF).

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” Paris said moments before Judge Michael T. Sauer made his decision.
