Bubblegum smackin’ Nick Lachey checks in at LAX airport on Thursday with Entertainment Tonight correspondent girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo.

The much-photographed lovebirds reportedly caught a flight to Nick’s home state of Ohio to raise awareness about hunger. They’re supposed to tour the Freestore Foodbank distribution center in Bond Hill in the afternoon, and attend the Cincinnati Bengals’ sold-out Taste of the NFL fundraiser at Paul Brown Stadium that night.

The pair is also said to be hosting a party at Seven in Broad Ripple, Indianapolis on Friday night as well. Busy bunch, them two…

This charity event helped fund the Candie’s Foundation For the Prevention of Teenage Pregnancy.

Auctions for the charity are currently online including packages to “Meet Fergie at her LA Concert” and “Rock out with Carrie Underwood.”

Celebrities came out in droves for music mogul Clive Davis‘ pre-Grammy party at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday night in Beverly Hills — Tyra Banks, Whitney Houston, Ellen DeGeneres with girlfriend Portia De Rossi, Ciara, Vanessa Minnillo with boyfriend Nick Lachey, and JC Chasez (below). Whitney is wearing Roberto Cavalli.

Justin Timberlake backed out of performing because he has the flu. I knew he didn’t look all there on Friday Night at the launch of “JT-TV.” Maybe he got the cooties from K-Fed when they hugged. Anything’s possible, right? I wonder if Justin’s going to be a no show at the Grammys…

Clive found a quick replacement for Justin and tapped Motown music legend Smokey Robinson to perform “My Girl.” (Sidenote: Clive signed UK’s Leona Lewis in a $10 million contract.)

The bigger the star, the less time they spend on the red carpet. It appeared that [Christina] Aguilera only stopped for still photographers and then just kept walking down the red carpet.

We were given warning, “Clive and Whitney are coming down. They’re not going to stop, so get your shot.”

And indeed, they didn’t. A reporter shouted, “Whitney, how are you doing?” She said, without missing a step, “Cavalli, Cavalli,” referring to her dress designer, who also attended the party.
