Stop the presses! Jake Gyllenhaal was just spotted sleeping on a Eurostar train on Tuesday, going from Paris to London.

The Zodiac star was last seen on Thursday at the Cannes Film Festival promoting his Palme d’Or-nominated film with co-stars Chloe Sevigny and Mark Ruffalo. He arrived in France about a week ago.

Should celebrities be allowed to sleep in peace? Some people apparently don’t think so!

• Richard Gere denounced a small right-wing minority in India whose complaints led to an arrest warrant against him. “There is a very conservative political party in India and they are the moral police,” Gere told Comedy Central’s The Daily Show With Jon Stewart yesterday. Gere said he was confident the issue would be sorted out. Legal experts agreed with Gere.
• Sources say that Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon have broken up already because Reese can’t find time for him, leaving him “devastated.” On Easter weekend, Reese went to church with her children instead of the Gyllenhaal clan. Jake’s rep has yet to comment.
• Tyra Banks finally paid a brunch bill yesterday after mistakenly leaving a Manhattan eatery with Russell Simmons without settling the check last weekend. She left a $100 tip for a $100 tab and was very apologetic.
• Tom Cruise’s friend and fellow Scientologist Jenna Elfman is shooting down reports that the actor’s five-month marriage to Katie Holmes is unstable. “Honestly, they’re happy,” Elfman said yesterday in Santa Monica. “They have a great life and they love each other. For some reason, the media cannot experience that. They must put in things other than the simplicity of it.”

Jake Gyllenhaal is all suited up in Morocco on the set of his new thriller Rendition, directed by Gavin Hood. He plays CIA analyst Douglas Freeman, who is forced to question his assignment as he becomes a party to the unorthodox interrogation of El-Ibrahim.

Rendition also co-stars Jake’s brother-in-law Peter Sarsgaard as well as Reese Witherspoon, Meryl Streep, and Alan Arkin. The release date for Rendition is set for Nov. 30.

The Today Show sits down with Zodiac star Jake Gyllenhaal and the character he plays in the film, cartoonist Robert Graysmith. They chat a little about the ending of the movie and recently turned up evidence that that might relate to the Zodiac case from the 1960’s.

Jon closed the interview mentioning that Jake played the kid Danny Robbins in Billy Crystal’s western movie City Slickers in 1991 (Jake was 11).

“Technically, Brokeback Mountain was not your first gay cowboy picture.”

Jake, 26, was interviewed by MTV VJ Damien Fahey at the MTV Times Square Studios on in New York City.
