Hilary Duff was being interviewed Tuesday by MuchMusic host Leah Miller on Live @ Much when a man in the crowd outside the studio started shouting at the 19-year-old star. According to an eyewitness, the unidentified man vowed to kill Duff, prompting several police officers to tackle him. “The cops slammed his face into the pavement,” said photographer Todd Gillis, who witnessed the incident. “He was bleeding.”

The 18th Annual Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation Media Awards were held at NYC’s Marriott Marquis Hotel.

Hil’s upcoming album Dignity is due April 3.

Some new movie stills have been released of tween queen Hilary Duff on the set of her new movie, War, Inc. co-starring John Cusack and Marisa Tomei (both pictured above).

Hilary, 19, filmed this movie in Sofia, Bulgaria and will be playing a European pop star, Yonica, who gets caught in an assassin’s scheme in a fictional Middle Eastern country called Turgastan. She even gets to shoot a machine gun in the film!

Said Hilary about War, Inc., “It’s off the wall and nuts and really smart and controversial and really proves the point. And I was so excited about it, like, ‘Gosh, can I do this? I don’t know if I can do this!’ Because you know what, when people won’t take a chance on you, you have like no confidence.”

War, Inc. will be released nationwide later this year.

Now that she’s officially single, Hilary Duff is enjoying her newfound freedom.

Appearing on Ryan Seacrest’s L.A. morning radio show on Thursday, the actress and singer dished that she and her ex-boyfriend, Joel Madden, still speak to each other, but she is excited to be playing the dating game once again.

Duff even revealed she’d recently been on a date (while she wouldn’t say who the bachelor was), which she called a unique experience.

“I’ve never gotten to date before, so it’s kind of exciting,” Hilary confessed. “I’ve always just had a boyfriend, you know? I’m young!”

The 19-year-old beauty also joked that she is going to take advantage now and play the field for a while. “It’s fun. I kind of feel like a guy, like I can do it now,” she said. “But I feel kind of wrong at the same time.”
As for now, Hilary isn’t looking for Mr. Right; she’s just enjoying the time for herself and beginning to promote her upcoming album, “Dignity.”
