The “We Own the Night” actress Eva Mendes was spotted arriving at LAX airport yesterday on her way to catch a flight. She looked positively perky in a casual blue dress with designs around the hemline and cuffs, a pair of sunglasses, and a pair of tan boots.

She shocked Hollywood when she suddenly checked into the Cirque Lodge (LiLo’s favorite place) last month. And now Eva Mendes appears to be moving on with her life, addiction-free and feeling great.

The sexy model/actress was photographed with the liquor by Italian photographer Marino Parisotto. Only 9,999 copies of the calendar were printed.

“[If I had a daughter], I would teach her about culture. That’s probably why I don’t have kids yet. I feel like I need to go to Cuba first – whether Castro is in power or not – and figure out some stuff on my own. I guess it would be fun to go with my daughter and find out together.”

Being the female-oriented mag that it is, nudity isn’t for the sake of nudity. Turns out, eight celebrities including Eva Mendes, Joss Stone, Serena Williams and a pregnant Milla Jovovich, posed naked for Clothes Off Our Back—a non-profit organization that auctions celebrity attire for children in need. This month, beneficiaries include Children’s Defense Fund, Cure Autism Now and the kids in Darfur.

Eva Mendes has revealed that she needed a little Dutch courage before filming sex scenes for new movie, ‘We Own the Night.’

The actress was so nervous about her steamy scenes with Joaquin Phoenix that she calmed her nerves with vodka.

“I wasn’t comfortable at all, but they were very sweet and they poured me a vodka and orange juice and then I was fine”, says the actress.

“I’m very professional and I don’t usually drink on the job, but that morning I had to have something. It was my first sex scene and thank God James Gray was directing it. He did it at the end of the shoot, so it was the last day and I was really, really comfortable with James and Joaquin.”

She also says that working with Joaquin was like working with a “puppy” or a “two-year-old” so we’re not surprised she needed a little something before getting down to business with the actor.

Joaquin Phoenix, Eva Mendes, Robert Duvall, and director James Gray were on hand at the Cannes Film Festival on May 25, 2007 to premiere their film, We Own The Night.

The cast looked dashing in classic black and white attire, as is appropriate for the so-called “grandaddy of all film festivals”.

Phoenix and Mendes seemed quite playful on the red carpet, pushing each other and just generally horsing around and having a great time.

Joaquin Phoenix was in France on Friday, May 25, 2007 at the 60th International Cannes Film Festival to promote the film We Own The Night.

Phoenix , 32, was accompanied by the rest of the principle cast characters (sans Mark Wahlberg) of We Own The Night. By his side are Eva Mendes, Robert Duvall, and writer/director James Gray (The Yards).

We Own The Night is a drama set at the height of a bloody 1980s struggle between Gotham cops and a Russian mob that targeted law officers and their families. That led the NYPD to hang “We Own the Night” banners in precinct houses and step up their efforts. Wahlberg and Phoenix play siblings in a cop-dominated family, with Phoenix the black sheep who ends up managing a Russian mob-controlled nightclub.
